Let me tell you a quick story about my first gun safe. I bought my first rifle a few years back and when I got it home I realized that I had no where to put it in my house. I have a young boy and at the time he was only three years old so I wasn’t about to leave my rifle hanging around where he could hurt himself with it. I decided it was necessary to go out and purchase a gun safe. mostori
I didn’t have a lot of money so I went and bought one of the cheaper Homak gun cabinets. It was a bare bones kind of thing that had just enough room for about three rifles and a few hand guns could sit on top of the single shelf. It had absolutely no frills. I put the gun safe in my basement and stored my rifle and its ammunition in there. I didn’t know it at the time but I was going to need to add a lot more practically it that safe.
I live in the North East and during the summer months it gets pretty humid out here, especially in my basement. I went down to check out my rifle because I was going to go hunting the next day and found that condensation had built up all around the edges of the gun safe and in the barrel of the gun. This wasn’t good. I knew it could potentially ruin the accuracy of my rifle so I went online and did some research.
It turns out that humidity is one of the biggest concerns with gun safes. A lot of people out there purchase dehumidifiers to accessorize their safes and eat up some of that dangerous moisture. After reading a few reviews I decided to go out and get one of those damprid canisters. It’s basically just a tub filled with chemicals that look a lot like kitty litter. You stick it in the bottom of your gun safe and it eats up all the moisture. You have to replace the tub about once every two weeks, but it was well worth it. I never had that condensation problem again. For more info please visit these sites:- http://onlineammunitionstore.com/

There are a lot of other kinds of accessories I eventually added to that gun cabinet before I decided to replace it with a Bighorn gun safe. I installed some interior lights so that I could open the safe and peruse my small gun collection without having to shine a flash light into there and my wife had me install some jewelry trays so that I could store her diamond earrings in there for her.
